Jeppe Hein’s Appearing Rooms
A summer favourite returns to the Southbank Centre. Shooting jets of water into the air, the fountain creates rooms that disappear as quickly as they emerge.
This interactive sculpture is the brainchild of Danish artist Jeppe Hein, whose combination of architecture and technology produces sculptures which are joyful, engaging and playful.
Hein's aquatic sculpture Appearing Rooms was originally commissioned for the garden of the Villa Manin, Italy.
It has been a popular feature of the Southbank Centre's summer season since 2007, and returns this year after a two-year hiatus.
