Try your hand at the art form of rangoli in this free drop-in workshop open to all.

Rangoli is the folk art tradition of large colourful floor designs, historically created by women to celebrate Hindu festivals and religious rites.

These sessions are led by Kulwinder Bajar, an international contemporary artist working in drawing, installation, performance video, film and socially engaged public projects.

The art form of rangoli uses materials like coloured rice and sand, flour and flowers to create its vibrant designs, which were traditionally created for moments of celebration and observance.

This event is part of Shankar 100, a programme organised to celebrate Ravi Shankar's 100th birthday in 2020.

After the pandemic caused Shankar 100 to be delayed, we’re delighted to be hosting the belated celebrations in 2022.
