Hicham Berrada: Dreamscapes
Past exhibition
3 JUL – 18 AUG 2019
HENI Project Space, Hayward Gallery
A free HENI Project Space exhibition of kaleidoscopic works bringing together art and science
An exhibition of sculptures, installations and video works informed by scientific processes and natural phenomena such as heat, cold, magnetism and light.
For this solo exhibition – his first in a UK institution – the artist brought together a number of new and existing works, including a series of illuminated tanks that featured delicate and ephemeral chemical landscapes, and a large-scale immersive video installation that explored morphogenesis, the biological process that causes an organism to change shape.
Hicham Berrada (b. 1986 in Casablanca, Morocco) lives and works in Paris, France. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou, Paris (2019); the Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt-am-Main (2018); Maubuisson Abbey, Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône (2017); the Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2017); the Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2016); the ICAS–Institute of Contemporary Art, Singapore (2015); and MoMA PS1, New York (2011), among others.
The exhibition was supported by SPIRIT NOW! London and its founder Marie-Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre. With additional support from Diversity Art Forum, Fluxus Art Projects, kamel mennour, Paris/London and Shubbak.
