Silent World
In this dystopian film, while deadly gas clouds sweep the nation, deaf rapper Signkid struggles with isolation in a dangerous new world.
Silent World blends dystopian sci-fi atmospherics with a penetrating character study of a deaf man’s increasing isolation and alienation at the worst possible time. No one is able to communicate with him, and he must find a way to survive.
It’s an exploration of a world gone mad, complete with parallels to our contemporary moment, but it’s also an evocative portrait of how it feels to navigate an uncertain world, emotionally and on a sensory level, without hearing. Though the film is sci-fi in its dystopian stylings, it echoes our existing reality.
