Join Gillian Anderson and special guests to discuss her sensational new book, an anonymous, honest collection of sexual fantasies from women around the world.
Want seeks to answer the question of how women feel about sex when they have the freedom to be totally anonymous, and totally themselves.
In this generation-defining book, Gillian Anderson collects and introduces the anonymous letters of hundreds of women from around the world (along with her own anonymous letter).
Anderson is joined by a panel of speakers including Amelia Abraham, Lohani Noor, Tobi Green Adenowo and chair Shahidha Bari. Actors Amy McAllister and Amarachi Rachel Nwokoro read extracts from Want.
Gillian Anderson is an award-winning film, television and theatre actor. She is also globally recognised as a respected activist and charity campaigner, co-authoring the Sunday Times bestseller We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere with Jennifer Nadel. In 2016 Anderson was appointed an honorary OBE for her services to drama.
Actors:
Amy McAllister is an actor, writer, and poet from Ireland who has appeared in films, television and theatres globally, and performed poetry across Europe.
Amarachi Rachel Nwokoro is an award-winning curator, director, drag artist, facilitator, healer, performer, poet, playwright, speaker and visual artist, with a passionate commitment to making the arts more accessible to marginalised communities.
Speakers:
Amelia Abraham is a journalist and author who writes regularly for publications on queer arts, culture and politics. Her books include Queer Intentions: A (Personal) Journey Through LGBTQ+ Culture and We Can Do Better Than This: 35 Voices on the Future of LGBTQ+ Rights.
Lohani Imtiaz Noor is an experienced relational psychotherapist with a special interest in psychosexual function. She has over 30 years in private practice, and recently presented the hit BBC programme Sex on the Couch, which followed different couples in their therapy sessions.
Tobi Green Adenowo is a creative in the arts who was the first disabled Black woman to collaborate with MTV UK. They are working on a solutions-based business called Disabled Power Network which highlights intersectionality.

Tickets from £30 upwards include a copy of Want for the discounted price of £13.99 (RRP £18.99). Books must be collected on the evening of the performance as we are unable to distribute them after the event.

We’re working hard to remove barriers, so that our facilities and events can be accessible to as many people as possible.

On Level 2 of our Royal Festival Hall you can grab a slice of life by the Thames with drinks and freshly made pizza at our Festival Bar & Kitchen which opens out onto our Riverside Terrace. You can grab a coffee and a slice of freshly made cake from our Ballroom Cafe. Or alternatively enjoy destination dining in the restaurant at Skylon.
From coffee to cocktails, filling favourites to fine dining, plus some of London’s best street food – it’s all here at the Southbank Centre.
