Wed 25 Sep 2024, 5.30pm

Get to know new people and take part in a weaving workshop designed to get you thinking about colours and their connection to happiness.

Run time 3 hours (approx)
Free – no ticket required

London can be a big place, but there are plenty of friendly faces and creative communities to find your place in. Creative Encounters invites you to experience the array of art and culture that makes this city a home to so many.

Find a creative home in the heart of the city with our monthly creative sessions, bringing together Londoners old and new for conversation, music and making.

Join us on the third Wednesday of the month for live music, hands on creative challenges, poetry from the National Poetry Library, and plenty of things to make and do while you meet new people. So if you’re new to the capital and feeling a little lost – or just eager to meet people and discover something new, come join us and make the Southbank Centre your home for the evening.

September sees visual artist and colour therapist Momtaz Begum-Hossain lead a weaving workshop where she guides us to reflect on the meanings of colour. There’s also the chance to hear live music by fresh, up-and-coming London talent.

Momtaz Begum-Hossain is a colour therapist and craftist who bridges the gap between ‘art and craft’ with vibrant, colourful, tactile creations. She has written several books including Bollywood Crafts: 20 Projects Inspired by Popular Indian Cinema and has been running arts and crafts workshops for over a decade, collaborating with major events and venues including English Heritage and the British Asian Festival.

Begum-Hossain’s most recent book, Hello Rainbow: Finding Happiness in Colour is inspired by her colour theory HelloHue®, a seven-point manifesto for how to use colour to boost your mind and mood. She is also a Happiness Facilitator and teaches people how to find happiness in their lives.
