U.S. Girls

This event has been rescheduled as we are currently closed due to the coronavirus crisis: all tickets are valid for the new date.

Under the moniker U.S. Girls, Meg Remy has become a staple name in experimental pop over the past decade with a signature blend of politics and disco beats.

Following the subversive sheen of 2018’s In a Poem Unlimited, Remy has taken an introspective turn on latest record Heavy Light.

Reflecting on hindsight, the passage of time, the balance of the conscious and the unconscious, and the pursuit of a radical empathy, U.S. Girls returns to the UK for this live show.

Recorded at Montreal’s acclaimed studio Hotel 2 Tango, Heavy Light is monumental for an artist whose career began with a four-track tape recorder and a Greyhound bus pass.

Remy worked with co-writers Basia Bulat and Rich Morel to develop the core of Heavy Light, a set of songs conceived as a richly arranged balance between orchestral percussion and the human voice.

Half Free, the predecessor to In a Poem Unlimited, was nominated for a Juno Award. Heavy Light is her seventh album as U.S. Girls.

stunningly original
Meg Remy is a narrative savant and her glorious, danceable new album is a righteous collection of razor-sharp songs, full of spit and fury, a high-water mark for political pop music.
