Lullaby: Sonic Cradle

Part of Imagine Children's Festival

Night time sounds, music from India and dancing visuals create a tranquil and immersive musical experience for little ones and their families.

Inspired by the songs Indian women sing to their babies while working in the fields, Lullaby: Sonic Cradle is a semi-improvised performance.

Combining live music, vocals and instruments with a soundscape, Lullaby: Sonic Cradle features visual effects that 'dance' to the changing rhythms, pitches and volume of the performance.

Manasamitra is a South Asian artist-led company based in West Yorkshire. Its ambitious work, rooted in classical Indian traditions, is inspired by an intercultural vision which merges the best musicianship, vocals, dance and storytelling from diverse cultures, into dynamic artist collaborations.

Supriya Nagarajan is the Artistic Director of Manasamitra and works internationally as a vocalist. Originally trained in South Indian classical music, Nagarajan works with a number of artists from other genres, creating new musical vocabularies through collaboration.

Duncan Chapman is a Lincoln-based composer/sound artist who regularly works with many leading music organisations in the UK including The Royal Opera House, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and the BBC. Much of his work results in sound installations, recordings and multi-media performances.
