Voicelab Explores: Peter Grimes

Part of Classical Season 2019/20

Take your choral singing to the next level at a workshop on Benjamin Britten’s opera with world-renowned mezzo-soprano and vocal coach Mary King.

Britten was inspired by narrative poem ‘Peter Grimes’ from George Crabbe’s book The Borough to write his own opera of the same name in 1945.

With libretto adapted by Montagu Slater, Britten’s opera tells the tragic story of a fisherman named Peter Grimes, who although acquitted of the murder of his apprentice, faces the growing animosity of his community.

Singers of all abilities and experience are welcome to take part and join the Voicelab community. Sheet music is provided.
