futuretense: Myele Manzanza

Part of futuretense

The son of a Congolese master percussionist, Myele Manzanza grew up in New Zealand listening to hip-hop, jazz and dance music.

A powerful drummer who has earned himself a reputation as a composer with vision, Manzanza celebrates the release of acclaimed album A Love Requited with a free gig.

Manzanza brings an eclectic style and diverse skill to his craft to create a genre-bending experience rooted in jazz and African rhythm.

As a drummer and a sideman he continues to tour internationally and collaborate with a broad range of artists, including Theo Parrish, The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Sorceress and Jordan Rakei.
