Polari: Featuring Russell T Davies

Blow out the candles for much-loved LGBTQ+ literary salon Polari’s 12th birthday at an event with the celebrated Queer As Folk screenwriter.

Russell T Davies’ groundbreaking series documenting the lives and loves of young gay men in Manchester was first broadcast on Channel 4 in 1999, just two years after he became a full-time writer.

Davies relaunched Doctor Who in 2005, and went on to create spin-offs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. His latest drama, Years and Years launched on BBC1 in 2019.

He is the winner of five BAFTAS, Comedy Writer Of the Year 2001 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Writers’ Guild.

Davies appears in-conversation with Polari founder and host, Paul Burston. Joining them for an eclectic evening of literary sparkle are Amrou Al-Kadhi, Alison Child and Tamara McFarlane who all read from their latest work, showcasing powerful descriptions of queer life and possibility.
