Valzhyna Mort: Translation as a Revision Technique

Part of Poetry International

Train your eye and ear on the choices that construct poetic meaning in a masterclass that sharpens your revision skills through the study of translation.

By looking at many versions of the same line or image, discover that any original is laden with opportunities that can be taken or overlooked.

Deepen your understanding of your own revision process and engage with the poetic opportunities that revision provides.

Valzhyna Mort is the author of two poetry collections, Factory of Tears and Collected Body.

She is a recipient of the Lannan foundation fellowship, the Amy Clampitt fellowship, the Bess Hokins prize from Poetry and the Gulf Coast Journal Prize in translation.

Born in Minsk, Belarus, she teaches at Cornell University and writes in English and Belarusian.

Her new book, Music for the Dead and Resurrected, is coming out in 2020.
