David Olusoga: The Secret Windrush Files

The historian uncovers the hidden stories behind the Windrush scandal at an exclusive screening of his new BBC documentary, followed by a talk.

In The Unwanted: The Secret Windrush Files, David Olusoga gives a platform to powerful and personal testimony from men and women of the Windrush generation, who arrived in Britain as children between 1948 and 1972, and exposes secret government files that reveal a scandal 70 years in the making.

Following the screening, Olusoga joins Amelia Gentleman and Sharmaine Lovegrove on stage to delve into the history behind the scandal, as well as the research and discoveries that led to the making of his revelatory documentary.

The Unwanted: The Secret Windrush Files is an Uplands Television production for BBC2.

David Olusoga is joined on stage by Amelia Gentleman for a post-event discussion, chaired by Sharmaine Lovegrove.

Amelia Gentleman is a reporter for The Guardian and previously worked as Delhi correspondent for the International Herald Tribune. She has been awarded a number of prizes for her 2018 Windrush investigation including journalist of the year at the British Journalism Awards and the Cudlipp prize for campaigning journalism.

Sharmaine Lovegrove is a publisher at Dialogue Books and Little Brown Book Group. In 2018 she was named FutureBook’s Person of the Year.
