Concrete Lates: BbyMutha, Elheist, LYZZA, Shannen SP

Part of Concrete Lates

Tennessee native BbyMutha created a viral hit with her masterful anthem ‘Rules’, a representative paean to female sexuality, smarts and ambition. Catch her at her debut London show.

Following a series of self-released mixtapes, her 2018 stand-out EP Muthaz Day 3 saw her challenging a male-dominated genre with her slow, icy-cool Chattanooga drawl.

Vibe magazine comments: ‘BbyMutha is leading the pack for the next generation of southern rap artists.’

Her celebration of women’s lives and choices dovetails with her public image as the mother to two sets of twins.

Line up
BbyMutha (live)
Elheist (live)
Shannen SP (DJ)

Born and raised in South East London, Elheist brings a fiery energy to the stage. Since her 2017 debut single ‘See how’, she’s been noted for smooth rhymes, a focus on female empowerment and alternative beats.

In singles released monthly throughout 2018, she’s lyrically polished and political, sweet and sassy, at ease with sonic exploration.

At just 19 years old, born-and-raised Brazilian LYZZA is taking over the experimental club scene. She’s a DJ, producer and vocalist with ties to Fade to Mind (US) and Bala Club (UK).

She’s become a familiar face during radical and underground club nights and has been seen on line-ups alongside names like Fatima Al Qadiri, Evian Christ, Le1f, Yves Tumor and SOPHIE.

She recently appeared as Mykki Blanco’s tour DJ.

Shannen SP is a London based DJ and the co-curator alongside Kode9. A resident of London's mid-week monthly Hyperclub event Ø and NTS Radio, her sets explore club sounds through an Afro-diasporic lens, ranging from kuduro, gqom, batida, dark dancehall and more. Recent stand out shows include Herrensauna at Tresor and De School, with an upcoming set at the Hyperdub 15th anniversary party at Berghain.

In partnership with Boiler Room.
