Trevor Watts Quartet

Part of EFG London Jazz Festival

From the vanguard of British free improvisation, the avant-garde saxophonist and founding member of The Spontaneous Music Ensemble presents his jazz quartet.

Trevor Watts, who celebrates his 80th birthday in 2019, has brought his celebrated innovations to his work in Amalgam, Moiré Music Group and The Drum Orchestra, and collaborations with Don Cherry, Archie Shepp, Steve Lacy, Steve Swallow, Cyro Baptista and Stan Tracey.

Watts is a versatile musician who has worked in everything from straight jazz contexts to rock and blues. A seminal musical career is celebrated on the festival stage with his stellar band, comprising John Edwards on bass, Mark Sanders on drums and Watts’ long-time collaborator Veryan Weston on piano.
