Andrea Pippins: Step into Your Power

Part of Imagine Children's Festival

We all have heroes and have read about the greats, but how do you actually get there yourself? Step into Your Power shows your children how to harness your power and use it.

Join illustrator of Step into Your Power Andrea Pippins and former deputy young mayor of Lewisham and grime MC Novelist as they share their own journeys and show your children the steps to make their big dreams a big reality, giving them lessons on how to live their best life.

Step into Your Power is the new book from the team that brought you Young, Gifted and Black, and is written by Jamia Wilson and illustrated by Andrea Pippins.

Andrea Pippins is an illustrator and author with a passion for creating images. Her work has been featured in Essence Magazine, The New York Times and O: The Oprah Magazine. Pippins is the author of I Love My Hair, a colouring book featuring her illustrations celebrating various hairstyles and texture; Becoming Me, an interactive journal for young women to colour, doodle and brainstorm their way to a creative life; and We Inspire Me, a collection of essays, interviews and advice on cultivating and empowering one's own creative community.

Drawing inspiration at the early age of six years old, Novelist’s influences came from UK underground music DVDs that were in circulation at the time. Once dubbed the 'poster boy of grime' and now recognised for his breadth as a musician, Novelist (real name Kojo Kankam) has gone on to become a respected 2018 Mercury Prize nominee with his debut album Novelist Guy and was nominated for a 2018 Q Award.
