futuretense: Afronaut Zu

Part of futuretense

Blending hip-hop and Afrobeat into soul-baring melodies, Afronaut Zu is a powerhouse of sound – hear it for yourself at a free Friday evening performance.

Standing on the shoulders of giants like Fela Kuti and Tony Allen, Zu is a live vocalist for Rudimental, former singer for Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons and member of London hip-hop collective Orphgang.

Zu, known for his powerful and explosive vocals, is currently gearing towards his second EP. He debuted his EP Melanalia at his first headline show, the sold out Off Balance Live.

Debut single ‘Martians' featured artist Levelle London and was produced by frequent collaborator XVR BLCK. ‘Martians’ premiered on BBC 6 Music by Mary Anne Hobbs.

Zu features on Dizzee Rascal’s latest EP Don’t Gas Me alongside Skepta, C Cane and P Money; and on the Foreign Beggars’ latest album 2 2 Karma, as well as an array of other notable features.
