Friday Tonic: Aerialists

Part of Friday Tonic

Transatlantic quintet Aerialists meld harmonic sensibilities with a deep love for folk traditions to create a post-rock sound called ‘prog-trad’.

A collaboration between Canadian and Scottish musicians, the band is made up of guitarist Adam Iredale-Gray (Fish & Bird), lever harpist Màiri Chaimbeul (Darol Anger, Brìghde Chaimbeul), and fiddler Elise Boeur (Jenny Ritter). Drawing from Nordic and Gaelic music, they add expansive textures and sculpted arrangements to create captivating, genre-defying music.

Nominated for a 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Emerging Artist, the new album Group Manoeuvre is a powerful collection of neo-folk compositions and stellar musicianship.
