Friday Tonic: IORA

Part of Friday Tonic

Haunting vocals and catchy pop riffs that are both familiar and extraordinary, combining harmonies with electronic sound and samples.

Selected by Scandi-pop star Sigrid for her personal BBC Introducing Radar playlist, IORA’s debut single ‘Thieves’ Den’ was also picked up by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and BBC Radio Manchester’s Mike Sweeney.

Her next release, ‘Minotaur Mind’, had a Sia-esque video that saw a massive response. The remix by Murder He Wrote was featured by 3000 Bass on SoundCloud.

After honing her craft on the Brighter Sound residency with Beth Orton and on The Sage Gateshead Summer Studio residency, IORA is currently developing her first EP as part of the Soundcamp and Youth Music project.

Past releases include ‘Human Touch’, a charity single video featuring Maxine Peake with all the proceeds going to Lifeshare (a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness in Manchester).
