Polari: Featuring VG Lee

Polari favourite VG Lee headlines as the much-loved literary salon marks LGBTQ+ History Month with mayhem and sparkle.

She is the author of five novels and a collection of short stories and has been nominated for a Stonewall Award. In 2014, she won the Ultimate Planet Award for Best Established Author.

The author Sarah Waters has said, ‘Lee writes with unfailing warmth and wisdom about the comedy and complexity of childhood and family’ while writer Andrea Levy has praised her ‘light touch, wonderful laconic style and spot-on humour’.

Her second short story collection, Oh You Pretty Thing!, is published this month. Lee is also a contributor of humour to The Lady magazine.

Joining VG Lee with readings from their latest work are Alan Robert Clark, Roland Chesters, Robert Chevara and David Gwinnutt.

In its twelfth year of residency at Southbank Centre, Polari was described by the Huffington Post as ‘The most exciting literary movement in London... crackling with energy, ideas and excitement’.

The salon is curated and hosted by Paul Burston, described by Attitude magazine as ‘easily one of the most important commentators of his generation’.
