We were very sorry to hear of the death of legendary French film and jazz composer Michel Legrand.
This concert was to have been a celebration of Legrand’s international standing as a jazz musician, pairing him up with one of the world’s great jazz big bands, in an evening inspired by his legendary 1999 album Big Band.
With the full support of Legrand’s management team at City Lights, Fane Productions is refashioning the concert as a fitting tribute to one of the very last great composers and musicians of his generation.
Full details of the concert, featuring Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra and special guests, will follow in the coming weeks.
Legrand may have been looking back, but he is not a prisoner of his past.
In all it was an evening of pure escapism, done with such virtuoso fluency that one couldn’t resist
