Lise de la Salle: Liszt, Debussy & Beethoven

Part of Classical Season 2019/20

An International Piano Series debut takes in Debussy’s diaphanous Preludes and Beethoven’s great final Piano Sonata.

Haydn’s witty E flat Sonata, Hob.XVI:52, requires a formidable technique and a deft touch.

Two programmatic works by Liszt – both Gothic in theme and tone – follow.

In the second half of the programme, a selection of Debussy’s impressionistic Preludes precede Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.32 – a work of contrasting form, key, tempo and mood.

Through her critically acclaimed performances and recordings Lise de la Salle has established herself as one of today’s most exciting young artists and as a musician of uncommon sensibility and maturity.
