Finchley Children's Music Group 60th Anniversary

Finchley Children’s Music Group and an alumni choir sing new commissions and favourites by Britten, Holst and Tippett in an anniversary concert.

At this performance, FCMG celebrates its history of commissioning music for children’s voices by premiering three new works written to mark its 60th year.

FCMG was established in 1958 following the London premiere of Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde. Based in north London, the Group is made up of five choirs for young people aged 4 – 18, and has been under the direction of Grace Rossiter since 2001.

In 1963 Britten became FCMG’s president, and his music continues to be at the heart of the choir’s repertoire. As part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, FCMG recently performed Britten’s Noye’s Fludde and his War Requiem under their current president, Martyn Brabbins.
