The Mozartists: Mozart's Keys

Part of Classical Season 2019/20

This event has been cancelled as we are currently closed due to the coronavirus crisis.

E flat major is the key to this exquisite line-up of Mozart masterpieces with the period orchestra and soloist Ronald Brautigam.

The celebrated Dutch fortepianist collaborates for the first time with conductor Ian Page and the Mozartists in an all-Mozart concert.

It comprises the effortlessly lyrical Piano Concerto No.22, the majestic Symphony No.39 in E flat major and famous arias from The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni, all of which are written in the key of E flat major.

Brautigam has won international acclaim and multiple awards for his recordings of Haydn and Mozart’s complete works for keyboard and his ongoing Beethoven cycle on BIS Records.

His playing combines technical virtuosity with intellectual integrity and a vibrant spirit of discovery.

Page is the founder and artistic director of Classical Opera and The Mozartists, and has been hailed as one of the leading Mozart interpreters of his generation.

The programme also includes the Countess’ first aria, ‘Porgi amor’, from The Marriage of Figaro and Donna Elvira’s ‘Mi tradì quell’alma ingrata’ from Don Giovanni, written as a showpiece when the opera was revived in Vienna in April 1788.

Brautigam is an absolutely instinctive Mozartian, with fleet fingerwork to match any, and with melodic playing of consummate beauty
International Record Review
Ian Page conducts his excellent orchestra with an ideal combination of elegant poise and mercurial sparkle… Who could fail to be charmed by such gorgeous music, so stylishly executed?
