Beatrice Rana: Chopin, Ravel & Stravinsky

Part of Classical Season 2018/19

Named Best Newcomer at the 2017 BBC Music Magazine Awards, in 2013 Beatrice Rana was awarded the Silver Medal and the Audience Award at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

She has since been chosen by BBC Radio 3 as one of its New Generation Artists, and awarded a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. The concert marks her International Piano Series debut.

Chopin’s second collection of Etudes, or piano studies, are inspired by everything from bees to butterflies, the sound of the ocean to the winter wind.

The second half of Rana’s programme takes us from the descriptive impressionism of Ravel’s Miroirs to the exceptional virtuosity of Guido Agosti’s dazzling Firebird arrangements.
