Types of legacy

There are several ways to remember Southbank Centre in your will.

  • Pecuniary
This legacy is a specific sum of money you bequeath to Southbank Centre.
  • Residuary
A legacy made up of the remaining value of your estate, once all other gifts, pecuniaires, debts, fees and charges have been realised. You can leave the whole or part of the residue in a will as a legacy gift.
  • Specific
A legacy gift does not have to be money. You can leave assets such as property, stocks, shares or any other valuables.

How to leave a legacy through a will

Deciding to leave a legacy is a personal and private matter, but it can also seem complicated. We strongly recommend that you seek legal advice from a qualified solicitor, who will ensure your wishes are followed and reflect your personal situation.

If your estate is liable for inheritance tax, your legacy will reduce the overall amount of tax due on your estate. We recommend that all legacy gifts to Southbank Centre are unrestricted. And, if you have already made a will but would like to leave a legacy gift to Southbank Centre you can still bequeath a gift by means of a codicil. Your solicitor will be able to advise you on this.
