In November 2021, during COP26,  leading climate campaigners from around the globe came together for a round table at The New York Times Climate Hub. Greta Thunberg, Tori Tsui, Dominique Palmer, Daphne Frias, Mya-Rose Craig and Ati Viviam Villafaña met in a discussion which centred on the essential need to be intersectional in the approach to the climate crisis.

Almost two years later – as part of Planet Summer, our season of talks, performances, events and more responding to the climate emergency – we brought this sextet back together on our Royal Festival Hall stage to look at what progress, if any, has been made in the fight for our planet’s future.

This conversation, chaired by Earthrise co-founder Alice Aedy, is now available for you to watch online. Hear how these six young activists were initially prompted, and continue to be inspired, to take action against our climate crisis, and how their approaches are inspired by other fights against oppression and marginalisation.

The group also discuss some of the key aspects of the current climate emergency, from the communities which feel its greatest impact, to governments’ over reliance on fossil fuels, as well as the need for co-operation and collaboration in the continuation of impactful climate activism.

‘Climate doomism is so dangerous because it can paralyse action, where as showing the transformative stories of people who are coming together to take incredible action, and sharing solutions and the things that we can do, can be so powerful in mobilising people’.
