‘So much of the experiences that I had growing up here convinced me that in order for me to get closer to this place I needed to get away from this place, so all my adventures and exploration was rooted in this neighbourhood.’

Conceptual artist Tavares Strachan offers us an intimate autobiographical tour of Bain Town, Nassau, The Bahamas, where his artistic journey began. In this video Strachan explores the roots of his creative process, offering an insight into the community that shaped his artistry and the ideas that propelled him onto the international stage.

Strachan also explains some of his early projects, including his daring exploration of the Arctic and his groundbreaking transportation of Arctic ice to The Bahamas for The Distance Between What We Have and What We Want.
