Traditional home-cooked Afghan comfort food from family recipes

Taking inspiration from the comfort of home-cooking, Pakhlaan bring their family recipes to our market, passing generations of food perfection on to you.

After working on the Southbank Centre Food Market, Abdul decided to set up his own stall inspired by his mum’s home-cooking. The result is Pakhlaan.

With a flavour combination that can’t be beaten Pakhlaan’s lamb wrap is a firm favourite among market regulars, ladened with their famous spicy tomato sauce it’ll definitely put a smile on your face. And Absdul and his team will be happy to make a vegan version too.

Southbank Centre Food Market Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre Food Market is open every weekend.

Fridays, 12 noon – 9pm
Saturdays, 11am – 9pm
Sundays, 12 noon – 6pm*
Bank holiday Mondays, 12 noon – 6pm

*On Bank holiday weekends, the market stays open until 9pm on Sundays

Plan your visit

Southbank Centre Food Market is located on Southbank Centre Square, on the Belvedere Road side of our Royal Festival Hall.

Getting here

Our address is Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX.

The nearest tube stations to us are Waterloo and Embankment; Waterloo is also the nearest train station. And more than 20 different London bus routes pass within 500 metres of our venues.  More information on getting here by rail, road or river is available on our Getting here page.

Cash or card

Though some of our food market vendors accept cash many no longer do, so be prepared to pay with either cash or card to avoid disappointment.

Access

We’re working hard to remove barriers, so that our facilities and events can be accessible to as many people as possible.

All help points, toilets, performance and exhibition spaces at the Southbank Centre are accessible to all, as are the cafes, bars and restaurants. We also have excellent public transport links with step-free access.
