Vex Red at Robert Smith’s Meltdown

Vex Red are enjoying something of a second coming at present. The band from Aldershot originally formed at the turn of the millennium, garnering much acclaim for their debut album Start with a Strong and Persistent Desire. Despite this early success the group went their separate ways before finally reuniting again to record new music in 2016.

Merging hard rock with electronica they chose to mark their invitation to be part of Robert Smith’s Meltdown by offering something different, and play Start with a Strong and Persistent Desire in full. In this short video, Vex Red’s singer Terry Abbott explains why they took that decision and what it was like to be asked to be part of the festival.

I spent four and a half years working here at Southbank Centre so it’s got a special significance for me this place.
