Untitled, 2017, by Kader Attia

Wednesday, March 27, 2019 - 10:23

Over the course of his career, Kader Attia has made use of mirrored surfaces in sculptures and installations.

In the artist's words, Untitled (2017) is an attempt to capture something of the ‘ambivalence’ that most people feel about aspects of their ‘cultural, political or personal identity’.

Drawing attention to the gap between the way that we see ourselves and the way that others see us, the work also forms part of Attia's research into phantom limb syndrome – a medical phenomenon explored in his video work Reflecting Memory (2016).
