Think Aloud podcast - Jazz: gatekeepers, dates and dancing

In the fifth episode of our regular podcast series we looked ahead to the 2018 EFG London Jazz Festival, which included a number of events here at Southbank Centre.

Our host, and self-confessed jazz amateur Harriet Fitch Little interviews the eminent performer and multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson, and also speaks with David Jones, a director and programmer of the annual festival.

Their discussion touches on where jazz can be misunderstood, how it defies the limitations of the ‘genre’, the vibraphone, and which type of music you should be listening to on a date. And finally they answer the question, ‘is this the end of jazz?’ Spoiler, it isn’t.
