Richard Wilson discusses 20:50 (1987) | Space Shifters

Key Words:

Sculptor Richard Wilson discusses some of the ideas behind his dramatic installation 20:50 (1987), touching on the events that first led to him flood an entire gallery with used engine oil back in 1987.

Wilson’s 20:50 was on show at Hayward Gallery as part of Space Shifters – a group exhibition of sculptures and installations that explored perception and space – which ran at Hayward Gallery from September 2018 until January 2019.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a huge chunk of our income. But now they’ve stopped. And it's a huge worry to us, and the people we work with. We all need the escape of art and culture; it can inspire and unite us. So please – if you can afford to – consider a donation to the Southbank Centre today, to help us be there for you in the future.
