Playlist: Unclassified Live

Tuesday, May 12, 2020 - 10:00

Unclassified Live is a concert series showcasing music by visionary composers and performers who refused to be put in a box. Produced in partnership with BBC Radio 3, the BBC Concert Orchestra and Southbank Sinfonia, the series began in September 2019 with a coming together of three of contemporary music’s most pioneering minds; Anna Meredith, Lizée and André de Ridder.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic led to the postponement of the series’ subsequent two editions; concerts which would have seen us welcome Daniel Avery, Rafiq Bhatia and Caroline Shaw, as well as Daniel Elms and Bell Orchestre to our Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Hopefully our doors will be open again come the series’ future concerts – featuring Qasim Naqvi, Bryce Dessner and Matthew Herbert and more – but for now we can at least journey through contemporary music’s current landscape at home, with this playlist of works from across Unclassified Live’s line-up.

The show must go on(line)

Sadly, for everyone’s safety, our venues are currently closed. But you can still get your Southbank Centre fix online. We will continue to share inspiring and thought-provoking arts stories through our website and social channels.

As a charity, we rely on ticket sales for a huge chunk of our income. But now they’ve stopped. And it's a huge worry to us, and the people we work with. We all need the escape of art and culture; it can inspire and unite us. So please – if you can afford to – consider a donation to the Southbank Centre today, to help us be there for you in the future.
