My Mixtape: Roo Panes

Tuesday, October 15, 2019 - 11:58

Roo Panes’ music has been described by Uncut as tapping ‘a deep well of folk heritage’. Since releasing his debut album Little Giant, to critical acclaim, the Britfolk singer has racked up over 120 million plays on Spotify, as well as over 6 million YouTube views.

The past year Panes has been on the road, taking the music of Little Giants, plus his follow up albums Paperweights (2016) and Quiet Man (2018) to audiences across the USA, South America and Europe. And in December he joins us for a special Queen Elizabeth Hall performance.

Ahead of his gig here at Southbank Centre, Panes kindly curated this special Spotify playlist from music that has soundtracked the last year of his life, as he describes below.

“These are songs that have accompanied me whilst I have been touring throughout this year. They're great to travel to, and have been my friends all around the USA, Europe and Brazil these last 12 months. Some of them I've known for years and some are new, but all of them feel timeless for me”.

Roo Panes appears at Southbank Centre on Wednesday 4 December.
