Meet the Honeys

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 - 18:20

Think this summer has already been scorching? brace yourself. We're about to turn the heat right up as we welcome Hot Brown Honey to Southbank Centre. Throwing out theatrical spectacular and social activism in equal measure, together they are a posse of phenomenal women smashing stereotypes. But, exactly who are the stars of Hot Brown Honey's hive? Before their audacious mash-up of music, dance and burlesque takes over our Queen Elizabeth Hall for five nights, it’s time to meet the honeys...

In her own words:
Getting the chance to perform in one of the biggest Hive Cities in the world, at one of the most prestigious venues in London and do it with my HBH sisters just has to go down as career highlight! The pace here is electric and we can not wait for London audiences to show us how they get down. It’s time to make noise!

In the words of Dr. Angela Davis:
'You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time.'

‘You have to act as if it were possible to radically transform the world. And you have to do it all the time’. We action these words of Angela Davis with every season of HBH and every fibre of our melanin loving being. Of course we are playing one of the most prestigious venues in the world... we’ve had to believe we would EVERY DAMN DAY. From our initial season in a humble tent at a portable table in Adelaide, to the Sydney Opera HIVE, to circus tents and the dry grass/mud strewn music and fringe festivals around the world… every space, every stage, every opportunity… we will decolonise!

*rolls up sleeves*

Knock, knock London!! Guess who’s coming to Dinner?
