Listen to the sound of Southbank Centre’s Classical 2019/20 season

Tuesday, September 3, 2019 - 14:48

September 2019 sees the start of a new Classical Season at Southbank Centre, with over 230 opportunities to hear the very finest music-making, live in London. To give a flavour of this season we’ve put together this special Spotify playlist featuring a number of the artists and orchestras we’ll be welcoming to our Royal Festival and Queen Elizabeth Halls.

From the crystalline sounds of Mitsuko Uchida and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to the golden touch of soprano Diana Damrau, our venues will reverberate to the sounds of stars from around the world. The season also boasts thirty commissions and premieres including Thomas Adès conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra in Holst’s The Planets, and a first London performance of Danny Elfman’s Violin Concerto.

And we also enjoy a year-long celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth; a celebration which includes treats such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s Beethoven and the Avant-Garde series, which features concerto appearances with Aurora Orchestra, as well as recitals.

You can explore all the concerts and series in our 2019/20 Classical Season, and download a full listings brochure elsewhere on our website.
