Best known for running the Instagram account, The Great Women Artists, Katy Hessel is a curator, art historian and writer, whose goal is to readdress the gender imbalance in the art world by reinserting women of all backgrounds back into the canon of art history.
Earlier this winter, Hessel visited Hayward Gallery’s Bridget Riley exhibition, the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of the artist’s work to date. In this film, Hessel talks about what it is to view Riley’s works in person, and why she considers Bridget Riley to be one of the greatest artists of all-time.
Bridget Riley is at Hayward Gallery until Sunday 26 January.
Hayward Gallery is open 11am – 7pm every day except Tuesdays when the gallery is closed, with late night opening on Thursdays until 9pm.
Bridget Riley is organised by the National Galleries of Scotland in partnership with Hayward Gallery.
