For over twenty years Hillary Rodham Clinton was a staple of the US political scene. After becoming First Lady in 1993, the former attorney from Chicago went on to achieve nomination, and re-election, to the US Senate before serving as Secretary of State under Barack Obama. Sadly though Clinton's fairytale just failed to go full circle, as she lost the 2016 US Presidential race to Donald Trump.

Ahead of the release of Clinton's latest memoirs, What Happened, take a look back at how the former First Lady almost became the first female US President.
