Experiencing the emotion of The Dream of Gerontius

Director and lighting designer Lucy Carter explains the importance of channelling the emotion within The Dream of Gerontius to the audience.

The Dream of Gerontius - Lucy Carter Interview

Carter intends to use innovative designs to recreate Elgar's greatest choral work with light, so as to give the audience the impression that they are dreaming with Gerontius. Aided by the clarity of the music from English National Orchestra's Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Simone Young, the performance's audio and visual elements combined will give a full sensory experience of Elgar's masterpiece.

I think the audience should feel every emotion that Gerontius feels, every emotion that his soul experiences.
