The pavements are thick with fallen leaves, the final Guy Fawkes Night fireworks have flashed across the night sky. Winter is no longer coming; it’s very much with us. So don’t fight it, embrace it. Layer up the socks, dig out the scarf and gloves from the back of the cupboard, and come and join us at Southbank Centre to get stuck into our fantastic range of Winter food and drink stalls in the heart of London.
Tucked away under Hungerford Bridge (the one the trains rumble over), Bar Under the Bridge is a warm wintry hideaway offering up an incredibly satisfying cheese-themed food menu. Charcuterie and cheese boards, croque monsieurs and baked camemberts await, along with cocktails including Prosecco Fred and Blood Orange Paloma.
Roll up, roll up and be prepared to get cosy as The Circus Bar pitches up on our Riverside Terrace. Housed in a series of teepee-like tents, complete with sizzling fire-pits at their centre, The Circus Bar will be serving delicious snacks, food including baguettes filled with hot-smoked salmon and juicy steak, not to mention lovely warming spiced mulled cider and wine.
Stretching along the South Bank of the River Thames, our popular Winter Market returns for the run up to Christmas, with traders from around the world offering an array of handmade festive goodies, crafts, and of course delicious street food and drink. In our corridor of wooden chalets you’ll find everything from warming hot chocolates to winter favourites such as raclette and bratwurst, not to mention, for those of you with a sweet tooth, waffles and pancakes.
For those of you who prefer your winter drinks to be unmulled, the award-winning Hop Locker can also be found in among the stalls of our winter market. With a great range of ales, beers and stouts from highly-regarded local, national and international breweries it’s easy to see why they’ve become a firm Southbank favourite.
In front of Queen Elizabeth Hall, over near Waterloo Bridge, Jimmy’s Lodge returns with a great range of alpine inspired food, from sizzling hot stone steaks to warming fondue. The Lodge also includes a row of specially constructed riverside igloos, offering you the chance to dine under the lights, and still stay nice and toasty.
Our Winter Market, including The Circus Bar and Bar Under the Bridge gets under way on Friday 9 November and is open seven days a week until Thursday 27 December.
Opening hours are 11am-11pm Friday to Saturday, and 11am-10pm on Sundays.
