With winter very much here, it’s time to let go of summer and embrace the cosiest time of the year. Throw on your favourite knit jumper, round up your friends, and come and join us at Southbank Centre to feast on our fantastic range of winter food and drink stalls in the heart of London.
Tucked away under Hungerford Bridge (the one the trains rumble over), Bar Under the Bridge is a cosy, alpine-style lodge offering up a mouth-watering burger menu from Baggio Burger. There are toasty heated chalet booths, cosy fleece rugs, and if you like building up a sweat to keep the cold at bay, ping pong. Don’t forget to pre-order yourself a winter warmer; choose from mulled wine, hot cider and festive cocktails.
Back after a busy summer, Applebee’s Fish serve up a winter version of their pop-up restaurant. The team at Applebee’s are experts at keeping things simple without compromising on quality. Warm your cockles with piping hot fish and chips, freshly shucked oysters, festive champagne and beers on tap. You’ll find them near the golden carousel.
Cosy up to the Asquith van opposite the golden carousel and grab yourself a delicious single-origin hot cocoa, spiced cider or a hot toddy from Beltane&Pop. Their hot tipples will leave your tastebuds begging for more.
In front of Queen Elizabeth Hall, over near Waterloo Bridge, Jimmy’s Lodge returns with a great range of alpine-inspired food, from warming cheese fondue to juicy raclette burgers served in their canopy-covered bar. Looking for something a bit different? Keep toasty and dine under the twinkling lights of South Bank in their specially constructed riverside igloos.
It wouldn’t be winter without a big bowl of carbs and cheese, and the Mac Shack is taking comfort food to the next level. Next to the Bar under the Bridge, the Mac Shack have the ultimate classic mac and cheese topped with their famous parmesan and herb crumb. Vegan mac and cheese lovers can dig into their roasted cauliflower and kohlrabi covered in lashings of vegan cheese sauce.
Back after popular demand, our festive Circus Bar pitches up on our Riverside Terrace. Housed in a series of magnificent, colourful teepees, The Circus Bar takes street food to the next level with a truffle-themed burger menu from Truffle. Meat-eaters, veggies and vegans will be left incredibly satisfied. Get cosy next to the fire pits or snuggle down at the secret cinema and enjoy a holiday classic.
Stretching along the South Bank of the River Thames, our popular Winter Market returns for the festive period going into the new year, with traders from around the world offering an array of handmade gifts, festive decorations, and not to mention, delicious street food and warming drinks. In our corridor of wooden chalets you’ll find winter favourites such as raclette and bratwurst, and for those of you with a sweet tooth, pancakes and schokokuss.
Our winter pop-ups are open seven days a week until Thursday 5 January. Opening hours are 11am –11pm.
All winter pop-ups will close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, excluding Jimmy’s Lodge which is open on Tuesday 31 December and closed on Wednesday 1 January.
The Circus Bar will close on Wednesday 27 December.
