Fourteen years since he last appeared here with us at Southbank Centre, the Keralan classical musician Prince Rama Varma returned in April 2014 for a special concert of South Indian Carnatic Music in our Purcell Room.
Presented by Dhruv Arts the concert featured a first class line-up of Carnatic musicians, and showcased Prince Rama's deep, rich, baritone voice and nuanced aesthetics. The performance was preceded by a talk by the Prince, which providing an introduction and context to Carnatic music.
