In its 37th year, the London International Mime Festival showcased a dazzling line-up of contemporary visual theatre from across the globe. Opening the festival at Southbank Centre were French company My!Laika, with their hit show Popcorn Machine, winner of the prestigious Jeunes Talents Cirque award in 2010.
My!Laika’s world is apocalyptic, an electric landscape where a surprising present coexists with an unknown past. There’s humour, bold acrobatics, a well-played Chopin waltz – even a popcorn volcano amongst other delights in this hour of circus theatre. Get a flavour of the show that appeared in our Purcell Room, below.
With a passion for works that defy categorisation, Southbank Centre is the place to see things you have never seen on stage before. Dance, theatre, comedy, cabaret and all sorts in between, brought to you by international artists and up and coming names.
